Steve Oram worked for 28 years at director level in the regional and national newspaper industries and as a chief executive of daily, weekly and free regional newspapers.
He was director of the national newspaper trade association, the Newspaper Publishers Association for ten years and a Panel member of the Competition & Markets Authority (formerly the Competition Commission) for eight years.
He is currently a director of the London Press Club and former Chairman.
He is also currently Chairman of a national newspaper advertising consumer protection scheme (SHOPS) and was Chairman of a professional association of psychoanalysts & psychotherapists (OPUS).
In addition to his interest in the First World War, he is also a member of the Reform Club and sits on their political committee; Steve is also a Liveryman of the Stationers Company.
He has a Master of Philosophy degree for industrial relations research and is a Churchill Fellow.
He joined the Western Front Association in 1999 and became Honorary Secretary in 2002.
