Description
Fascination with the Great War in Britain owes much not only to its human costs, which were unprecedented and unique in the British experience, but also to the fact that the war was fought by ‘ordinary men’, who would in normal times never have been in the army.
This lecture follows the wartime experience of one of these men, Lance-Corporal Geoffrey Husbands, Sherwood Foresters, based on the remarkable memoir he wrote and which paints a compelling portrait of the British ‘working man in khaki’.
Both members and non-members welcome.
