Speaker: Paul Handford MBE
The talk is about a collection of medals and papers Paul purchased relating to a Mr Kendal, a civilian volunteer ambulance driver. The collection suggested he had been killed in Action on the Western Front in May 1918 whilst driving his ambulance in support of the French Army.
His death was not recorded or indeed recognised by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission.
Paul commenced a four year journey of research, which included translating French War Diaries, examining records contained at the International Red Cross (Geneva) and other research material.
