In 1905 he British Government banned any celebration of the Trafalgar centenary, as part of the Entente process. However, this lecture will demonstrate that the Royal Navy was being deployed to uphold the balance of power in Europe, and won a major victory in the autumn of that year, one that served the British state as well as Trafalgar, and at far less cost in blood and treasure.
