Victory Over Blindness: the Story of the Blind Veterans of the First World War and the Man Who Inspired Them with Rob Baker
16 Sep

Rob Baker is the archivist at Blind Veterans UK (formerly St Dunstan’s) where his responsibilities include safeguarding and adding to the historical material which the charity has accumulated over its 106-year history. This talk will focus on the remarkable blind man Sir Arthur Pearson who founded the charity in response to the injuries suffered by service personnel in the First World War and the individual values who he helped to train and rehabilitate in order that they could continue to live a full and active life after losing their sight.

Rob will also give details of the records that Blind Veterans UK holds concerning its WWI veterans and how to gain access to information from them.

This is a Zoom Meeting: unfortunately, recent water damage has left our venue temporarily unusable, so we have had to resort to Zoom once again. For details on how to join in contact londoneastwfa@gmail.com
