The story of the 'Unknown Warrior' has fascinated Ron Scrimgeour for more than forty years. His research began then with the Ministry of Defence and the Commonwealth War Graves Commission. Military matters were not a high priority then and the Vietnam War summed up an unofficial attitude – that the military were a necessary evil and when their work was done, move quickly on. With the coming centenary of the return of the body of the Unknown Warrior from France the story is finally in the spotlight.
Ron Scrimgeour is a retired history teacher (history), an honorary member of the Black Watch Association (Angus Branch), and a keen military historian.
