Lucinda Gosling studied History at Liverpool University before a career in the picture library industry. Formerly manager of the Illustrated London News archive, she is now historical specialist at the Mary Evans Picture Library.
Based on her book It's All a Bit Heath Robinson: Re-inventing the First World War, this talk looks at the life of one of Britain's best loved humorous artists with particular emphasis on his cartoons during the First World War, a period that inspired him to finely hone his convoluted contraptions and absurd inventions.
Members of the Western Front Association and non-members are equally welcome to attend. We ask for a modest £3 donation on the door to assist in covering room charges and speaker expenses. The Club's licensed bar is available for use by all attending our meetings.
