'Morale, Discipline and Military Effectiveness at Cape Helles in the Gallipoli Campaign, 1915' a talk by Professor Gary Sheffield
11 Mar

Professor Gary Sheffield will be giving a talk called 'All Pretty Well Fed Up and Worn Out? on morale, discipline  and military effectiveness at Cape Helles in the Gallipoli Campaign, 1915.

The talk will examine morale and discipline of British troops at Cape Helles in the Gallipoli campaign, using the sociologist Anthony King's work as a model. Drawing on a wealth of primary material, it looks at the rash of short-lived panics among the troops, and an example of combat refusal, when men of the Highland Light Infantry simply declined to follow their officers into battle.
