'Stone’s Contribution to the Great War' by Steve Booth
08 May

Steve Booth is a retired history teacher from Stone.  He began his career at Leek High School, then went to Wolstanton Grammar School then moved to a school in Rugeley.  In his retirement Steve is treasurer for Stone Historical and Civic Society.

Steve explores all aspects of Stone's contribution to The Great War which are detailed in his books “They Did All That Was Asked Of Them: Stone’s Contribution To The Great War 1914-16” and “The Whole Town Played It's Part: Stone's Contribution To The Great War”

Stone contributed its share of men for the war effort, but those left behind played their part as well, providing accommodation for Belgian refugee families, ladies were employed in the factories and a Red Cross Hospital was established.
