Welcome to the Wiltshire Branch of The Western Front Association
Meetings are held on the first Sunday of the month between September and May only; when a Bank Holiday weekend coincides, the meeting will be held a week later/week earlier.
Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome.
Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.

'The Indian Army, the Great War, and the Question of Manpower'
This talk explores how enlistment and training were changing not only to incorporate many more recruits but also people traditionally not recruited at all. Officers were a challenge, as new officer cadets needed not only the military training but also the linguistic skills to command Indian soldiers. Ultimately, the logistical difficulties were overcome as a significantly enlarged Indian Army went into the field in all the major theatres of the Great War.
