The municipality of Zonnebeke, the Passchendaele Museum and the Passchendaele Society 1917 will be holding a dawn service to commemorate ANZAC Day at the Buttes, New British Cemetery at 6am on Thursday 25th April 2024.

The cemetery is in Polygon Wood, south of Zonnebeke, where 2,108 Commonwealth soldiers are either buried or commemorated including 564 Australians. This is also the location of the memorial to the Australian 5th Division who took part in the intense fighting here during the Third Battle of Ypres in late September 1917.

No registration is required to attend, but access by vehicle will be very limited with likely road closures around the site on the day. Further details, including alternate transport arrangements from the museum can be found at ANZAC Day 2024 - Passchendaele Museum Link

Attendees are requested to arrive no later than 5.45am

Several other ANZAC Day events will take place in the Ypres area at various times during the day and are listed on the Australian Embassy’s website at  Australian Embassy - ANZAC Day Programme 2024
