1762 Sdt Nicolas Baptiste, 5e BCP.
From Ambierle, Nicolas was born on 19 August 1891. Residing at St Bonnet-des-Quarts at the time of his enlistment, Nicolas was already a serving soldier at Remiremont at the time of the outbreak of war. A combatant in the earliest battles of the war in Alsace, he was killed in action at Uffholz in the Vosges on 4 February 1915. Nicolas has no known grave.
