18 June 1918 Pvt Thomas J ProvencePvt Thomas J Provence, Co E, 7th Engineer Regt, US Army.

Born on 1 September 1881 at Woodstock, Kentucky, Thomas was a railroad employee in Vermillion County prior to enlisting in the regular army at Jefferson Barracks on 21 September 1917. Trained at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas, he embarked for overseas service on 23 February 1918, but died of disease at Savaney, France on 18th Ju 1918. Originally buried in the American Cemetery at Savaney, Thomas's body was returned home post-war.
