5 July 1918 Gnr Walter J BehrensGnr Walter J Behrens, Battery F, 17th FAR, US Army.

Born at Lafayette, Indiana on 7 March 1893, Walter was a general machinist before he enlisted into the US Regular Army on 30 June 1917. After training at Jefferson Barracks and Camp Robinson, he moved to France with the 2nd Division AEF in December 1917. Wounded near Chateau Thierry, Walter died of his injuries on 5 July 1918. He was initially buried in the village cemetery at La Ferte but his body was repatriated to the USA post-war.
