Capt Allen Charles McKenzie Cleghorn, C A M C.
Born in London, Ontario on 2 February 1872, Allen graduated from Trinity Medical College in 1892 with an M D and CM. He became a medical superintendant at the Toronto Home for Incurables before gaining a position on the medical staff at Harvard University in 1899.
On 15 December 1915, Allen enlisted into the Canadian Army Medical Corps at Toronto and received a commission with immediate elevation to the rank of Captain prior to being attached to the 44th Bn CEF. After being transported to England en route to France, Allen contracted pneumonia and died at Bramshott. He is now buried at Bordon Military Cemetery, Hampshire.
