Call for Papers

Are you interested in presenting at the conference, or attending the event?

Papers are invited which offer new interpretations into the study of modern war.

Following in success of the inaugural MCRS event hosted at the University of Bradford in February 2018, the series returns with a two day international conference at the outstanding Imperial War Museum North, in Manchester.

MCRS is an interdisciplinary conference, designed to offer those researching war and conflict between 1800-2017 the opportunity to share their work with scholars, professionals and enthusiasts alike in a friendly, supportive environment.

The conference will take place on Friday 31st January & Saturday 1st February 2020.

This year, our theme is 're-interpretations'.

Please send a 300 word abstract to modernconflict2.0@gmail.com along with a brief biography by 11:59pm GMT on Sunday 25th August 2019.

We welcome submissions for 20 minute podium presentations, 10 minute lightening presentations, panel proposals, workshops, roundtables and poster presentations.

Please note we especially welcome submissions which examine conflicts/the impact of conflict beyond Europe.

Details of financial support for speakers will be circulated to applicants in the near future.
