The Manchester Regiment 1914-18 Living History is fast becoming a very popular pastime in Britain. There are numerous groups around portraying men and women from every period in history. The Great War is a particularly poignant time to recreate. All of us are likely to have family that fought, and often died, between 1914-1918. From nearly every country in the world men went to war, it was the first truly global conflict. Not only that but it is widely accepted to have been the first proper industrial war, where the artillery and machine guns ruled the battlefield.

The “Old Contemptibles” Great War Living History Society The “Old Contemptibles” Great War Living History Group are not a re-enactment society that ‘plays’ at being soldiers. The Group has been formed by several “independent” Great War Living Historians who have not wanted to join a “single regiment” group due to their specialised nature or simply the will to portray something that means more to them regimentaly. Some of our members are also members of other Great War Groups but are able to badge as the regiment of their choice as a member of our group.

The Great War Society The Great War Society is a non profit making organisation based in the UK. Founded in 1984 we provide an opportunity for practical research into the uniforms, weapons, equipment, training and everyday tasks of Great War soldiers, both of the Allied, and Central powers.
Our members dress in period uniforms and equipment, learn the drill, and undertake the training and everyday activities of the time. We are a living history, rather than a battle re-enactment group.

The "Queen's Own" Royal West Kent Regiment Living History Group Our Group has been formed by a number of like-minded living historians who share a passionate interest in the period and the Regiments of Kent and our first and foremost aim is to perpetuate the proud memory of those who lost their lives fighting for their country. We seek to honour the memory of both of the County's Regiments - The "Queen's Own" Royal West Kent Regiment and The Buffs (Royal East Kent Regiment). Based in Kent we are a non-political, non-profit making organisation. Founded in 2009 we offer an opportunity for practical research into the uniforms, weapons, equipment, training and everyday life of Great War soldiers.
We are a living history, rather than a battle re-enactment group and our focus is on education and research. Our members dress in period uniforms and carry equipment in order to give the most accurate portrayal of activities of the time. We attend events to provide displays of uniform and equipment and we also assist people who wish to find out more about their relatives who fought during the Great War or other related research. We are extremely proud to be associated with, and have the support of, the Regimental Museum at Maidstone as well as that of The "Queen's Own" Buffs Association.
