A pilgrimage to Albert in France and on to the Somme battlefield to find the exact place where Private Alvin Smith was killed on September 17th 1916. This is the culmination of 20 years of research by Peter Rhodes to find out how his Great-uncle Alvin died, using army records, battalion diaries, family memories and local newspaper archives.
