Derek is a Corporate Refugee – he escaped from a Top 13 accountancy firm (you can guess where they were amongst the 13!) to set up his own niche accountancy practice, Pinkham Blair, with David Pinkham in 2004. Since then, they have helped dozens of other Corporate Refugees to set up new businesses of their own.
Derek qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1994.
He is also a member of the Birmingham MA alumni club, having graduated in 2014. His dissertation was on the self-imposed question: "Did RFC/RAF close air support help to make British tanks more effective in 1918?".
Derek has been a member of The Western Front Association since 2006, and has also been Honorary Treasurer of the Army Records Society since 2018.
