Our speaker this month is Phil Sutcliffe who will present "Foot Soldier Sam's World War 1, in his own words". He details the war time experience of his father, Sam. Sam enlisted in the Royal Fusiliers whilst underage in September 1914, and went on to Sam see action at Gallipolli and on the Somme. Recalling his experiences in the 1970's, Sams story is told by his son, Phil.
About the speaker: Phil was born in 1947, when his father was 49, and worked as a journalist until semi-retirement. Asked by his father to edit his writing, Phil provided what he describes as "only a light touch. All the words are his - though not necessarily in his original order"
