Sir John Monash: Australia's Famous General by Paul Cobb.

Paul Cobb's talk will examine the life of John Monash who was a civilian engineer and militia officer before the First World War.  He served at Gallipoli and then on the Western Front where he rose to the rank of general, was knighted, and placed in charge of the formidable 100,000 men strong Australian Army Corps in May 1918.  His meticulous planning and subsequent conduct of the battles the Australians fought in during the last six months of the war was much praised.
