We are delighted to announce that we are planning to launch a new website for The Western Front Association in December.  Our aim is to make your online experience clearer, easier, and more enjoyable, while keeping everything you value about The WFA website.

New features of new website

There are hundreds more new articles to browse, which include lectures and talks which are on the WFA's YouTube channel. These can be searched to enable you to find exactly what you are looking for. The number of articles and videos is now approaching 1,000, and this is expected to grow as more pieces are written or videos created.

There is a brand new feature, being Generals’ biographies, courtesy of Prof John Bourne. We hope this will expand over coming weeks and months.

We have also brought the on-going project to create videos from the I Was There! magazines onto the website, which can now be located much easier by theme

Another of the excellent improvements is that WFA Branch events are now much easier to find (there's an interactive map and an very useful search function).

There is a brand new Schools and Universities area which provides information on the WFA's schools competitions plus the support available for university students. It also details the excellent online course that has been created in conjunction with the University of Kent.

In addition, we have made Pension Record information and TrenchMapper 'help' much more accessible.

What you need to know:

The website address is staying the same: you will still find us at www.westernfrontassociation.com

The new website has been created with ease of use in mind. Information will be easier to find, with clearer 'drop down' menus and improved navigation throughout the site plus a vastly improved 'search' function.

What you need to do:

To access all the extra material in the members' area, WFA members will need to set a new password.

When you first sign in to the members area of the new website, you will be asked to create a new password. Here’s what to do:

  1. Enter the email address associated with your membership account and your current password.

It needs to contain:

  • One number
  • One lowercase letter
  • One uppercase letter
  • One special character (for example: ! @ # $ % ^ & * ? _ ~ ( ) )

You will then be asked to confirm your new password.
