Dear Father,

I saw you today, what could have been you.

You were so magnificent,

But everyone was blue.

Mother said you had to go and you couldn’t say no.

You fought bravely, you fought strong.

I am proud.

I remember the day when you left,

You said you were leaving but soon would be back,

You were smiling, so happy.

So I was too.

I remember your embrace,

I remember the smell of your hair,

I remember how you whispered in my ear, “I love you”.

I hope you are happy, up up in the stars

For you’re truly missed,

Down, down in the cold ground.

You will be remembered,

Your bravery forever,

You saved us.

You are a warrior.
