: Moor street To The Dardanelles: Gallipoli & Birmingham – Ian Binnie

Ian will outline the history of the "Incomparable" British 29th Division who had the dubious honour of being involved in both the initial landings at Gallipoli and the first day of the battle of the Somme. Formed of regulars serving abroad in 1914 they gathered in South Warwickshire before they went to the Dardanelles. some historians have likened them to Napoleon's Old Guard. they served with great distinction on the Western Front. Due to heavy casualties the he division was reconstituted many times and awarded more V.C.'s than any other division.
