'Female Medical Units of the Great War' with Siobhan Tyrrell
21 Nov

Siobhan has spent almost thirty years as a Fine Art & Antiques Valuer working for a number of auction rooms, and is now Head of Valuations for the long established independent valuation and art advisory company, Gurr Johns International. Her appraisal work has involved high net worth private, corporate and museum collections, as well as livery companies and trusts across the globe.

Siobhan can also be seen on the BBC's 'Antiques Roadshow' acting as an expert on jewellery and women's history.

All this has led to a keen personal interest in unsung female heroes of the twentieth century, and the medals awarded to those women from the Boer War to the Second World War. She takes delight in uncovering the stories behind these often forgotten women and in this talk focuses on the medical units staffed by women who served in the First World War; she will be bringing along a small collection of medals and nurses badges to illustrate the topic.
