No More Napoleons: How Britain Managed Europe from Waterloo to World War One

As well as our usual festive meeting with food provided we have an exceptional speaker arranged

Professor Andrew Lambert will draw upon his recent book on this subject to cover what is an essential topic for anyone wishing to understand the lead up to the Great War

Andrew Lambert is Laughton Professor of Naval History in the Department of War Studies at King's College. After completing research in the Department he taught at Bristol Polytechnic,(now the University of West of England), the Royal Naval Staff College, Greenwich, and the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst. He is a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society and also Director of the Laughton Naval Unit housed in the Department. In 2020 he was made a Fellow of Kings College London (FKC).

To cover the cost of food and soft drinks a donation of £10 will be requested for this evening (only). To help with arranging the right amount of food, if you plan to attend and have not already notified us of your intention to do so please let Alan Leakey know before the meeting.

This meeting will be held in Cobham.  Members of The Western Front Association and non-members are equally welcome. 

People joining us at Cobham can use our cashless card system and use their credit card/phone with the reader that will be available at the signing-in desk.

To help make things easier and safer, we are asking those coming to Cobham to bring their own mug for coffee or tea.

Andrew’s talk will start at 8pm. Doors open at Cobham at 7:15pm and the meeting starts at 7:45pm.

Note that this meeting is on the second Wednesday in December.
