We look at the Artillery Brigades of the BEF from the early months of the war, at the processes involved, and the lessons learned throughout each year. We cover the major battles of each year of the war and how the Artillery learned and developed from each. The new ideas and technologies and the people who played key roles in those processes which were to lead to ultimate success in late 1918. We ask the question, just how different in 1918 were the Artillery brigades and the men in them, from those of 1914, and how would they influence the role played in the modern military of today?
