This talk introduces the context and experiences of WAACs and discusses some of the impacts of their war service. Although they lived through extraordinary times, the majority of WAACs came from ordinary backgrounds.
During the war the kind of work they did was often similar to their pre-war jobs, as the majority worked in clerical or domestic roles. However, the war opened up new networks and new horizons, and for some of them the experience set them on a different path in their post-war lives.
Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.
