This Gallipoli Association ONLINE talk will focus on the experiences of the 5th Battalion (29th Division so in the initial landings) and the 4th and 7th (52nd Division replacements) before and
during the campaign through their own words and many obscure contemporary
accounts.
It will bring into question the pre-war notion that the erritorials were 'weekend wonders' and underline that their professionalism was at least as good as, and in some cases arguably better
than the Regulars they fought with.
Dave Clarke is a teacher and historian in Edinburgh. He has a lifelong interest in the Gallipoli campaign and is passionately interested in the so-called 'forgotten fronts' of the First World War, especially East and West Africa.
