'The Civilian Contribution to the Medical Needs of the Great War, with examples from Cumbria'.

Richard's talk looks at the development of VADs and how they were directly related to the growth of Auxiliary Hospitals (VAD hospitals) and the civilian appetite for voluntary efforts. It is based upon a report written in 1921 of the work done in Cumbria (Cumberland, Westmorland and the Furness area of Lancashire) by the combined efforts of the  Red Cross, St. Johns Ambulance and the Territorial Associations.

Richard is the Chairman of the Cumbria Branch and along with his wife, Sue is a regular attendee at our branch meeting.  Most, if you all of our regulars will know Richard.
