This talk is the second of two talks given by Christopher Mellor-Hill of Noonans auctioneers looking at the War in Africa. This will consider the war in West Africa including the actions in South-West Africa by the South African forces.
Christopher is head of Client Liaison at Noonans - the specialist Medal & Coin Auctioneers. His enthusiasm for medals began during a period of territorial service in the Honourable Artillery Company. Working in the City of London he regularly visited medal fairs and auctions, where he gained valuable knowledge. His career in metal commodities and foreign exchange provided opportunities to travel more broadening his interest in medals and the history they represented. Having been born and raised in Africa, his particular speciality are the colonial wars & campaigns of Africa up to the end of The Great War.
He joined DNW, now Noonans, in 2006, switching his professional interests from metals to medals. In his role as Head of Client Liaison, he travels around Britain and overseas meeting with collectors. He’s a regular speaker at various medal societies and conventions, including the London Medal Club, which he founded, the OMRS AND OMSA where he has often exhibited as well.
