'Sam Sutcliffe: a memoires of a WW1 Tommy at Gallipoli a talk by Phil Sutcliffe.

We welcome Phil Sutcliffe, an author and historian of the First World War. Phil will be talking to us about his Dad, Sam Sutcliffe and the book he wrote about him titled Nobody Of Any Importance. This is a soldier's memoir of the First World War which covers Gallipoli, the Somme, the Spring Offensive and eight Months as a prisoner of war. Phil edited and published his father's memoires and tells his story of underage enlistment in the London Regiment, Gallipoli, The Somme, The German Offensive in 1918 and time as a POW. This talk is predominately about Sam’s Gallipoli experience. At Gallipoli he served for a period alongside a machine gun detachment from the Essex Regiment.
