Theatre and the Great War by Dr Helen Brooks
12 Feb

Drawing on findings from the nationwide Great War Theatre project Dr Helen Brooks will share new discoveries about the ways in which theatre-makers responded to the First World War. During the talk she will discuss the recruiting sketches of the first eighteen-months of the war, the mobilisation of the Home Front from late 1915, and trench-plays including, most famously, Bruce Bairnsfather's smash-hit The Better 'Ole (1917).

Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.
