A panel discussion around some of the key themes surrounding the global commemoration of the First World War

The University of Kent’s Centre for War, Media and Society will be joined by Prof Mark Connelly (University of Kent, UK), Dr Dominiek Dendooven (In Flanders Fields Museum, Belgium), Dr George Hay (Official Historian, Commonwealth War Graves Commission) and Megan Kelleher (University of Kent) as they discuss some of the key themes surrounding the global commemoration of the First World War.

Topics considered will include the diversity of individuals who saw active service in the conflict, the legacy of the ways in which these individuals were commemorated and the impact of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission’s Non-Commemoration Report.

This discussion will last for one hour, with time for questions afterward
