This is our annual joint meeting with the Leinster Regimental Assn.

"Private Martin Moffatt VC and the Liberation of Ledegem"

"The town of Ledegem, in Belgium had been under German occupation throughout the war until it was liberated by the 2nd Leinsters on 14th October 1918. In the course of the battle, two Leinster Regiment soldiers, Private Moffatt and Sergeant John O'Neill, were awarded VCs

This presentation focuses on Moffatt and the liberation of the town."

"Denis Kirby is Vice Chairman of The Prince of Wales's Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians) Association and Chairman of its Ireland Committee. He is also a member of the committee of the Cork Branch of the WFA."

 

The meeting will be in the conference room at the library, doors will open at 13.30 for a 14.00 start.

 

Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts. 

 

While entry is free, we would welcome a donation of 3 Euro to help cover our costs.
