'Rathnew, The Khaki Village' by John Goodman

The village of Rathnew Co.Wicklow is widely reported as having the highest recruitment rate of anywhere in the British Empire.  The talk will look at the veracity and reasons for the claim as well as the experiences of the men that enlisted'.

John Goodman is chairman of the Leinster Regiment Ireland group and is an avid WW1 historian.  He has researched WW1 documentaries for TV and written articles for various publications.  He has spoken at the UCC genealogy summer schools and is a regular speaker for the Dublin WFA.  He is a committee member of the Wicklow Historical society and has been the Co. Wicklow representative on CIGO (Council of Irish Genealogy Organisations).

The meeting will be in the conference room at the library, doors will open at 13.30 for a 14.00 start
