‘British Forces in Italy 1917 – 1918’, by Dale Hjort.

In October 1917 French and British troops were sent to Italy after a German-Austrian army
broke through the Italian front at Caporetto and began an advance almost to the gates of
Venice. Dale Hjort will examine the notable part these forces played in the challenging
conditions of the Alpine front, initially in a reserve and support role during the defensive
action of Asiago, then the crossing of the Piave and finally the battle of Vittorio Veneto and
the total defeat of the Austrian Army in October 1918.

Today these events are barely remembered, although they deserve to be! Help turn the tide
by coming to Dale’s talk on June 17th.
