5th Dorset's in Gallipoli - Chris Copson (1)
10 Sep

Chris Copson education officer at The Tank Museum and formerly of The Keep ( Dorset's museum) will take a look at the Gallipoli campaign through the eyes of the 5th Battalion of the Dorset Regiment.

The Battalion suffered severe casualties and deprivation due to the terrain and location, at one stage the battalion was down to approximately 250 men and had to be temporarily merged with the Manchester regiment.

Both WFA and non - members alike are equally welcome to attend this fascinating talk, we ask for a modest £5 to defray costs, entry will include entry into our famous raffle and a hot drink.

Photograph, World War One, Gallipoli (1915). The horses are tethered to picket spikes on the sand. Gully Ravine was located on the left of the Allied position at Cape Helles near 'Y' Beach. Out of copyright.
