A Lieutenant at 15 - Paul Harris
14 May

A Lieutenant at fifteen is the remarkable story of Alfred Davis who was one of the youngest officers to serve in the British Army during World War 1. This talk will explain how he was able to gain a commission at the age of fifteen and what he encountered in his time on the Western Front.

It seem unbelievable that someone as young as Alfred served as an officer in the field. He fought at the Battle of Mametz on the Somme in 1916 and endured the German offensive of March 1918.

His story offers a valuable insight into our understanding of underage soldiers and there experiences.

WFA and non members alike are equally welcome to listen to this fascinating talk, we ask for a modest £5 to defray costs. This will also entitle you to a free tea or coffee and entry into our famous raffle.
