Risking everything - Captain Frank Billinge DFC - James Gordon-Cumming
12 Oct

This is the story of a life begun in a Victorian slum in Manchester, through the trenches of the Ypres Salient, to joining the Royal Flying Corps as Observer, fighter ace and night bomber pilot. Flying with 20, 32, 56 and 83 Squadrons, Frank scored 20 Squadron’s first victory, flew with James McCudden in both 20 and 56 Squadrons, met King George V and won the DFC in a harrowing episode in 1918. This is not the end of this intriguing story.
