ORBATs: WW1 Orders of Battle

The WFA provides access to an extensive collection of Orders of Battle (ORBATs) compiled by Dr George F. Nafziger. This comprehensive resource contains over 500 detailed PDF files documenting military formations and unit structures from the First World War and other conflicts.

About the collection

  • Dr Nafziger, PhD, Captain USNR-Ret., is a military historian and former US Navy officer with over two decades of service, including combat experience in Vietnam. He holds advanced degrees in military history and business and is the founder of The Nafziger Collection, a publishing house specialising in military history.
  • These ORBATs represent a significant research tool for anyone studying military organisation, tactical deployment, and the evolution of armed forces during the period.
