Contact- A Fresh Look At The Action At Castenau

Speaker: Geoff Massey
Horse Artillery In WW1

The cavalry action fought at Casteau on the 22nd August 1914 is mentioned in almost every account of the Battle of Mons.

However, in the telling and re-telling details have been left out, errors have crept in - and been repeated; so much so that often no two accounts agree.

Using first-hand accounts and documents, is it possible to take a fresh look at the action and come up with an accurate picture?

Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.
