Too Much Love For Thee, Dear Boy; Paternal Grief in the Great War
On the 9th of September we welcome the return of Dr Viv Newman. In this new talk Viv will delve into how the losses of the First World War actually impacted the families of the Fallen, from the perspective of both parents, something that we are probably not aware of in the post Victorian / Edwardian period.
In 2004, Viv Newman was awarded a PhD for her thesis Songs of Wartime Lives: Women's Poetry of the First World War (Essex). Regulars to Branch meetings will know her as a recurring excellent speaker, with an expertise in Women in the Great War, resulting in many books on a wide range of subjects.
This meeting is at The Village Hall, Maldon Road, Hatfield Peverel, CM3 2HP, starting at 8pm.
Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts
