'Anti-tank warfare' - Graham Cobb
11 Dec

For the last time at the Hornchurch venue for 2024, Branch Member Graham Cobb will present a talk about a specific form of defence that originated in the First World War.

We are all familiar with the introduction of the tank in 1916, but after the initial shock, the German forces developed measures to counter this new weapon. In this talk Graham, will consider Tactics, Technology and Tantrums. This will concentrate significantly on the German actions but as Germans developed their own tanks and used captured Allied tanks in 1918, anti-tank measures were also required by the Allied forces.

Meet at the Poppy Lounge, Royal British Legion, Hornchurch, from 7:30 for an 8pm start. Entrance donation is £3.50 and, as ever, those who are not members of the WFA are very welcome to attend. There is parking nearby in a pay & display car park (24 hours), and we have access to the bar.

Please Note: The map on this Website shows the Hatfield Peverel location, not Hornchurch.
