Remembrance Sunday 2025
The London (East) Branch was well represented this year at various remembrance events around its home in Waltham Forest on what proved to be a lovely autumn morning.
Town Hall (Walthamstow)
Branch Chair and Secretary Neil and Sally Pearce attended the ceremony at the Waltham Forest Town Hall in Walthamstow.
The memorial, featuring a life-size classical Greco-Roman female figure looked at its splendid best, and there was a fine contribution from the Stow Caledonian Pipe Band.
Neil laid a wreath on behalf of the London (East) Branch.
Coronation Gardens (Leyton)
Eve Wilson (Exec Committee member) attended the ceremony in the beautiful Coronation Gardens in Leyton, which sits beside Leyton Orient FC's Brisbane Road ground (see recent Branch News item for more on the Club's WWI connection), and laid a wreath on the Branch's behalf.
Harrow Green Memorial (Leytonstone)
Chris and Joy Hunt were in attendance at Leytonstone's Harrow Green Memorial, with Joy laying a wreath for the Branch. Afterwards, there was an invitation to all to gather for refreshments at the Leytonstone Ex-Servicemen's Club in nearby Harvey Road.
Chingford Memorial (Ridgeway/Kings Head Hill)
Friends of the Branch, Mary and Nick were at the fantastically well attended ceremony in Chingford, laying a wreath on the Branch's behalf.
Kings Green Memorial (Loughton)
Branch stalwart Derek Bond was at the Loughton Memorial, before heading off for the eleventh of the eleventh in Ypres.
West Green Memorial (South Tottenham)
Later in the day Neil and Sally also attended a ceremony at West Green Memorial in South Tottenham, where Neil's great-uncle, Private Thomas Pearce is listed amongst the fallen.
