Three Norfolk Heroes

Speaker: Steve Smith
Leathes Prior

In this presentation, Steve will be looking at three men who served in the 9th Bn Norfolk Regiment who wrote diaries and memoirs. They were the C.O. Lt Col Bernard Leathes Prior DSO, who commanded from October 1916 - July 1918, Capt Cyril Percy Bassingthwaighte MC and Bar, who became the Adjutant for the battalion serving from October 1916 and Private James Cooper a stretcher bearer and bandsman from January 1917. Thier memoirs have enabled Steve Smith to understand what the battalion went through from the Somme to their move into Germany at the end of the war.

Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.
