Talbot House and 'Tubby' Clayton - Linda Parker
08 May

Our branch meeting on Sunday, 8th May 2022 will focus on Talbot House in Poperinge, Belgium and the Rev 'Tubby' Clayton. WFA member from our neighbouring Thames Valley branch, Linda Parker, will be speaking on this subject which forms a small part of her extensive knowledge of padres in the Great War. (The image above shows a group of Queens' (Royal West Surrey Regiment) veterans and others in the garden of Toc H during a battlefield visit in the 1930's.)

Doors open around 13.40 for a 14.00 start. Members and guests are most welcome to attend. We do ask for a £3.00 donation on the door to cover room hire etc.

Please note - to avoid the Bank Holiday weekend, this meeting is one week later than usual. This is also the final meeting before our summer break. We resume in September - a programme for September 2022 to May 2023 will be circulated as soon as it is ready.

The branch also has been given another selection of books to sell. Please do bring along some cash and see what might be of interest. The donation kindly given by a branch member also includes a large number of VHS tapes on Great War subjects - these may also be of interest to members especially if you still have the means to play them or convert to CD. Back issues of Stand To! and the Bulletin will be available too.
