How the Western Front recovered from the ruins - and what Yorkshire did to help

Most Western Front Association members will have visited the old battlefields, but how much do you know about how those devastated areas were restored to the green landscapes we see today?

Nick will talk about how this happened - and how people from Yorkshire, and across Britain, did their bit via the now-largely forgotten British League of Help.

Halifax
The Place d'Halifax is a town square in Metz-en-Couture (Pas-de-Calais, France), named to honor the British city of Halifax, which "adopted" the village after its near-total destruction in WWI. It was officially renamed on February 12, 2011, recognizing the historic link between the two places established in the post-1918 reconstruction

Members and non-members of The Western Front Association are equally welcome. Any new visitors are guaranteed a friendly atmosphere and a warm welcome from a group of like-minded enthusiasts.
