“If All the Officers Were First Shot”

Speaker: Dr Bill Stewart
Currie

The presentation will be live and online.

Despite historian’s scathing comments on their suitability, the senior combat commanders of the First Contingent were critical to the CEF’s success. The First Contingent was the initial force that crossed to England in October 1914.

This presentation provides a group biography discussing their backgrounds, experience, career trajectories, and importance to the CEF’s development. It also highlights officers who represented the larger themes in the presentation.
