Battle of Arras: Ceremony at the Canadian National Vimy Memorial
The Government of Canada invites you to a commemorative ceremony marking the 109th anniversary of the Battle of Arras and the capture of Vimy Ridge.
The memorial, designed by Walter S. Allward and unveiled by King Edward VIII on 26 July 1936, commemorates all Canadians who served during the Great War. The names of 11,285 Canadian soldiers who died in France and have no known grave are carved on its base.
- Location: Canadian National Vimy Memorial, Chemin des Canadiens, 62580 Givenchy-en-Gohelle
- Time: 3.00pm on Thursday 9 April 2026 (arrive by 2.30pm)
- Parking: Opposite the Moroccan Division Monument, or at the Vimy Ridge Visitor Education Centre (15 minutes walk)
- Dress: Military – uniform with medals; Civilian – business attire
- Reception: A reception will follow at 4.30pm at the Salle des fêtes, Neuville-Saint-Vaast
